Rouhani Dismisses Bilateral Talks with Trump
TEHRAN (Ruptly) — Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said his country had no intention to hold bilateral talks with the US, during a speech at the Iranian Parliament in Tehran on Tuesday.
Rouhani said the only way negotiations would take place would be for the US to lift all of its sanctions against Iran, and that such negotiations would be attended by the other signatories of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The Iranian president also said that Iran would enter a third stage of decreasing its commitments to the JCPOA if negotiations with Europe did not reach results by Thursday.
US President Donald Trump last week had expressed openness to meeting with Rouhani, saying “there’s a really good chance” they two leaders could meet.
