Over 1,000 Int’l Observers to Monitor Presidential Election in Kazakhstan

NUR-SULTAN /ex ASTANA (Xinhua) — The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kazakhstan has accredited 1,013 observers of foreign states and international organizations.

“In total, 6 CEC meetings were held to consider the accreditation of international observers”, CEC member Zauresh Baymoldina announced Monday.

“According to the results of all meetings, a total of 1,013 observers of foreign countries and international organizations have been accredited to monitor the presidential election of Kazakhstan scheduled for June 9, 2019”, Baymoldina said.

Among the observers are 866 from 9 international organizations and 147 from 41 foreign countries.

The presidential election in Kazakhstan will be held on June 9. Seven candidates will compete in the election. The election campaign began on May 11 and will end on June 8.
