NUR-SULTAN / EX ASTANA (KazInform) — 5G Internet will be deployed in Kazakhstan with the help of the Nordic Investment Bank, National Economy Minister Ruslan Dalenov said so during a plenary session of the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament.

“According to Kazakh Invest NC, the list of projects has been compiled. In general, the cost of the project portfolio exceeds €1 bln. During negotiations, specific projects will be identified. The talks will also allow us to agree on tariffs, grace period, benefits for local content development and other terms”, said Ruslan Dalenov, adding:

Among the projects under development, I would like to mention the following. This is the implementation of 5G broadband Internet. We expect that the investor of the project will be from Finland - Nokia with nearly 500 million dollars. 5G is an important element of artificial intelligence. You know that even surgeries can be performed remotely. All you need is a high-speed Internet that lets you control the scalpel from another part of the world.

In addition, the Minister noted that Kazakhstan was planning to receive a loan for the realization of the industrial silicon production project in the Pavlodar region. The $130 mln in funding will be provided by the United Arab Emirates. There is also a $26 mln project to build a greenhouse complex in the Turkestan region, a $22 mln meat processing plant in the Akmola region to be financed by Denmark and a $128 mln ceramic plant to be built in the Kyzylorda region.
