New York City Hosted Kazakhstan Investment Forum

ALMATY (Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service) – On May 11, New York City hosted Kazakhstan Investment Forum, which was attended by businesspeople and potential investors. The event was keynoted by Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the US, Kairat Umarov, who spoke about the opportunities available in the Republic of Kazakhstan for the American businesses.

In particular, the Kazakh diplomat pointed out the country’s favourable investment climate, political stability and long-term vision for sustainable development in the country. According to him, the results of the recent presidential election show overwhelming support of the people of Kazakhstan for the course of President Nursultan Nazarbayev for the continuation of such policies and programs as Kazakhstan 2050 and NurlyZhol.

During the forum, organized by the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in New York City in cooperation with the European-American Business Organization to celebrate the World Trade Week, the participants discussed the prospects for American businesses’ engagement in the economic projects of Kazakhstan. Speaking about the horizons of the investment cooperation, a member of the Board of Directors of the Development Bank of Kazakhstan Marcia Favale-Tartar stressed that the program National IPO led to an active participation of the Kazakhs citizens in privatization of national companies and promoted entrepreneurial activity in Kazakhstan.

Participants of the forum also received complete information about the liberal visa regime in Kazakhstan. Consul General in New York Raushan Yesbulatova gave detailed information on the procedures of getting a 5-year Kazakh visa. As known, now the US citizens may visit Kazakhstan without visas for up to 15 days.

The event was held in an interactive format so that the participants had an opportunity to ask questions about the geopolitics and the tourist destinations in the Silk Road region. The participants received books about Kazakhstan and brochures about the priority investment activities in the Republic of Kazakhstan. According to the attendees, such meetings are useful to inform the American public about the political and economic development of Kazakhstan, which is important when making decisions regarding the establishment of the presence of US corporations in Kazakhstan.
