NEW DELHI (Ruptly) — Radha Soami Spiritual Centre in New Delhi was converted into the world’s largest COVID-19 care facility with beds for 10,000 patients, as footage filmed on Wednesday shows.

The facility covering 116,128 m² will be used as an isolation centre and hospital. It was chosen by the New Delhi authorities due to its vast size as well as its pre existing facilities including fans and CCTV cameras.

According to the Mehrauli Sub Divisional Magistrate Sonalika Jiwani the facility will open in two days starting with 2,000 beds and by the first week of July “should be ready with the functioning of 10,000 beds.”
