“During a search at Narek Sargsyan’s apartment, documents for a bank account were found, worth $6.8 mln and registered on the names of his father Levon Sargsyan and sister Ani Sargsyan”, the committee said in a statement. “Levon Sargsyan is an ambassador-at-large and, in line with the law, we was to mention this sum in his tax declaration.”
“Sargsyan’s family members — son Narek Sargsyan and daughter Ani Sargsyan — also failed to mention the above-mentioned sum in their tax declarations”, the statement reads.
“The investigative department of the Armenian State Revenue Committee launched a criminal case into tax evasion and unjust enrichment”, the committee said.
Since 1998, Levon Sargsyan worked as an ambassador to Syria, Tunisia and Jordan. In 2010, he was appointed ambassador-at-large.
