MOSCOW (Ruptly) — Russia will reopen its embassy in Libya, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced at a joint press conference with Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives Aguila Saleh Issa in Moscow on Friday.
“I wanted to inform you that we decided to reopen Russian embassy in Libya. In charge of it will be Jamshed Boltaev, interim chargé d’affaires”, said Lavrov. He added that Moscow would “continue to actively put effort in Libyan conflict settlement.”
On his turn, Saleh Issa stated that Russia’s "political openness" made it "an admissible and effective mediator in international conflict settlement", highlighting the fact that there is no place for military solution to the Libyan crisis.
Lavrov also called for direct talks between Israel and Palestine under the aegis of the Middle East Quartet with an active participation of Arab states.
