NUR-SULTAN / ex ASTANA (Kazakhstan Pravda) — A moratorium on street renaming in Kazakhstan is in prospect in light of the ongoing census campaign. The issue was raised at the first meeting of the Special Commission for the National Census of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2021.
It is specified that in order to ensure the quality of the census, the Commission considered the feasibility of a moratorium for the period from 1 May to 31 December 2021 on proposals for the creation, suppression and transformation of administrative and territorial units, as well as on the designation and renaming of constituent entities of localities.
