BEIJING (CCTV) — Chinese President Xi Jinping oversaw a large-scale military parade on Tiananmen Square in Beijing on Tuesday, on the 70^th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Some 15,000 military personnel were estimated to have participated in the rally, which also showcased much of China’s military arsenal, including tanks, jets, and helicopters.

Addressing the attendees, Xi Jinping said:

Today, socialist China stands proudly in the east of the world. No power can shake the status of our great motherland, and no power can stop the progress of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation.
