TEHRAN (Ruptly) – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that US President Donald Trump’s proposed Israel-Palestine peace deal, the so called Deal of the Century, “will never get off the ground”, while leading Eid al-Fitr prayers at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Grand Prayer Grounds on Wednesday.

Khamenei criticised Bahrain for agreeing to host an upcoming summit where the Trump administration is reportedly set to reveal the details of its proposal, dubbing it “a great treachery to the Islamic world.”

“We hope that the Bahraini and Saudi rulers realise what a quagmire they are stepping in and what damages this will so to their future”, he added.

He also commented that “The goal of this summit is to set up America’s wrongful, treacherous and evil scheme for Palestine, which they [Americans] have called the Deal of the Century.”

Many Palestinian groups, alongside the United Nations, will boycott the event, while Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates announced their participation to the summit scheduled in Bahrain’s capital Manama on June 25-26.
