Kazakhstan Publishes Food Inflation Data for 2012: +2.7%

ALMATY (Interfax Kazakhstan) – The price of wheat has increased by 6.6% in Kazakhstan from January to September 2012, the Statistics Agency of Kazakhstan said.

As reported, crop production, realized by agricultural enterprises, rose by 4.1%, animal products by 0.6% in September 2012, compared with December 2011.

According to the agency the variation of the prices for the main items is as follows :

  • Cereals:
    • Corn: +5%
    • Barley: +2.7%
    • Rice: +0.5%,
    • Buckwheat: -7.4%,
    • Rye: -5.9%,
    • Millet: -2.8%,
    • Oats: -0.4%.
  • Vegetables:
    • Tomatoes: -17.7%,
    • Cucumbers: -11.2%,
    • Potatoes: -7.9%,
    • Cabbage: -7.2%,
    • Onion: -1.7%,
    • Carrots +6.9%,
    • Beetroot: +3.1%,
    • Melons and watermelons: +10.9%.
    •  Sunflower seed: -10.7%,
    • Grapes: -4.5%,
    • Fruit and berries: -4.1%.
  • Meat & related:
    • Sheep: +11.9%,
    • Horse: +8.2%,
    • livestock cattle: +6.7%,
    • pig: +4.6%,
    • poultry: +4.4%
    • Egg: -18.9 %,
    • Raw milk: -5.5%.
