Kashmir: India and Pakistan Sign a Ceasefire
NEW DELHI (WION) – Pakistan and India have pledged to end repeated ceasefire violations on their disputed border in Kashmir after months of high tension, the armies of the two countries said Thursday in a joint statement.
The two countries are committed to using diplomatic channels from now on, but there is no guarantee that this agreement will be respected again this time. Indeed, clashes have multiplied in the region.
The United States has welcomed the decision of the joint statement between India and Pakistan. This joint statement will reduce tensions between both countries.
The recent military de-escalation with China in the Himalayas allows India to redeploy troops. The new Biden administration has also shown early signs of Indian support against Pakistani extremist organisations. All these elements can push the Asian giant to hope for a new deal in the region.
