GENOA (Ruptly) — Dockers of one of Italy’s biggest port in Genoa held an anti-war and anti-NATO protest as Saudi Arabian ship Bahri Yanbu moored in its territory, Friday.
One of the members of C.A.L.P. Port workers organisation, Riccardo degl’Innocenti, told Ruptly the ship was loaded with “armoured vehicles and weapons that are usually carried by North America and Canada”, but as the ship is permanently supervised and it is forbidden to take pictures of the storage, there is no way to reveal evidence of it.
“The store is full of armoured means, of weapons for the Yemen conflict, and not only”, stated activist degl’Innocenti, adding “we want this traffic of weapons to cease. We want them not to transit anymore from the Port of Genoa.”
Last May, the Bahri Yanbu caused outrage mooring in French Havre, Italian Genoa and Spanish Santander. Protesters asked to close the ports to the weapons meant for Yemen conflict and open them to migrants instead.
