Israel and UAE to Normalise Diplomatic Relations

The reference is to Biblical Samaria, a primarily non-Jewish territory within the ancient northern kingdom of Israel (as distinct from the southern kingdom of Judah) — not the much older Sumeria of the lower Tigris and Euphrates. The New Testament story of the Good Samaritan concerns one member of this ethnicity is one of the most important of Jesus’ parables.
Since Samaria has probably not existed as such for nearly 2000, it is shocking that the Israeli Prime Minister insists on using the name.
