Iranian Pharma Companies Face Production Issues Due to Sanctions

Tuesday 4 December 2018

TEHRAN (Ruptly) — Iran’s pharmaceutical companies have been facing production issues due to the US-imposed sanctions that have hindered the ability to buy raw material from third countries.

Footage from Tehran on Tuesday, shows the way sanctions have affected the production process of one the largest Iranian drug companies Tolid Darou Pharmaceutical Company based in the Iranian capital.

According to Research and Development Director Majid Sheykha, the company has been able to “moderate” the impact of the sanctions. “However, there are some fields that have been facing problems somehow, such as providing primary materials used for packaging and this is because we have faced problems regarding money transfer.”

“We have lots of problem regarding providing the raw material”, explains Masoud Karbasiyan, manager at the company.
