TEHRAN (Ruptly) — Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani criticised French President Emmanuel Macron for saying he shared the same objectives on Iran as US President Donald Trump, during an open parliamentary session in Tehran on Sunday.

On Friday, Macron said France and the United States shared “the same objective on Iran”, during a meeting with Trump on the sideline of the celebrations for 75^th anniversary of the D-Day.

“The recent remarks by the French president during his meeting with Mr. Trump were regrettable and amateurish”, said Larijani.

“Such talks are expected from Mr. Trump, but hearing them from Mr. Macron was surprising as they had nothing in common with what the French president had said in his various in-person meetings or telephone conversations with Iranian President Rouhani”, Larijani continued. “It seems that he [Macron] talks in a way to please whomever he is talking to”, Larijani added.
