NEW DELHI (WION) — Taking a strong stance against Islamabad using its consulate for anti-India activities, Iranian officials on 15th August forcibly removed banners from Pakistan’s consulate in the north-eastern city of Mashhad.

The anti-India banners on “Kashmir Solidarity day” were removed in the middle of the night from the walls of the Pakistan’s consulate by the local police.

India is the second biggest customer of Iran and imported about 24 mln tonnes of crude oil in 2018-19. However, due to American sanctions, Indian Oil — which imported 9 mln tonnes of Iranian oil in 2018-19, the maximum for a refiner in the country — is seeking to source additional supply from Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, the US, and Mexico by exercising the option to source additional volume from these suppliers with who it has annual term deals.
