Iran: British-Flagged Tanker is Ready to Be Released
TEHRAN (Press TV) — Iran says all legal steps have been completed for the release of a British oil tanker which was detained in the Strait of Hormuz in July.
Hamid Baeidinejad, Iran’s ambassador to London, later tweeted:
The British flagged tanker ‘Stena Impero’, pursuant to the completion of judicial and legal process, is now free to leave.
The Stena Impero was at the centre of a stand-off between the UK and Iran after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps seized it in mid-July in apparent retaliation for British Royal Marine commandos’ impounding of anIranian supertanker, the Grace 1, off Gibraltar two weeks earlier.
