PEKING (Xinhua) — At the end of last month, a freight train from China arrived in the German city of Nuremberg, which was the first of the China-Europe international transport project trains that passed through the Polish Semyanuvka station.

The train, loaded with auto connectors, LCD displays and other goods, departed from Chengdu, Sichuan Province in south-western China on September 14 and arrived at its destination 16 days later, passing through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus and Poland.

Semyanuvka is a station and a junction of roads with different gauges on the border between Poland and Belarus. It is located north of another Polish border station, Malaszewicz, through which trains from China to Europe follow.

The redirection of part of the trains through the Semyanuvka station allowed to reduce the workload of the Malaszhevichi station, caused by the increase in the number of international freight trains China-Europe. According to the staff at the Chengdu International Railway Port, the opening of the new route can improve the efficiency of rail transport, explained.
