First Cross-Border Bridge between Russia and China
MOSCOW (Ruptly) — The installation of railway tracks on the first cross-border bridge between Russia and China began on Tuesday.
The 2,209-meter-long (7,248ft) long bridge connects Nizhneleninskoye (Jewish Autonomous Region) to Tongjiang (Heilongjiang province) across the Amur River and is expected to open for freight in July. Russia plans to export iron ore, coal, lumber, fertilisers and other goods to China.
Construction of bridge started in 2016, following 28 years of negotiations.
