Due to the high volatility of international financial markets, falling energy prices and the global economic slowdown, it was decided to postpone until 2021-2023 the transfer to the competitive sector of a number of strategic assets such as Kazmunaigas, Air Astana, Tau Ken Samruk , Qazaq Air, Samruk-Energy, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and many others.

The overall privatisation plan 2016-2020 includes 167 assets of the Samruk-Kazyna NWF joint stock company. So far, the transfer of 138 assets has been completed. 21 companies are in the process of sale, reorganisation or simply liquidation.
