CEO of Kazakhstan’s BTA Bank Resigns

ALMATY (MarketWatch) – BTA Bank late Wednesday announced the resignation of Chief Executive Marat Zairov, who had been brought in last August to refocus the troubled lender toward commercial banking.

The bank said Zairov resigned for health reasons. It denied published reports that his departure stemmed from disagreements with the government on the terms of an upcoming restructuring to be discussed at a shareholders meeting here Jan. 26.
