A “Delicate Moment” for the Global Economy, Says Lagarde
WASHINGTON (IMF press service) — Global growth is slowing, and the world’s economy is at a “delicate moment”, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde said Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at the US Chamber of Commerce. She pointed to rising trade tensions and tightening financial conditions at the end of 2018 for the weakening growth.
However, Lagarde believes that a recession is not in the forecast yet, and there is “still time to make smart decisions” to get back to growth.
