BISHKEK (KirTAG) — The Kyrgyz Parliament plans to allocate 6 mln soms for 2019 to the television channel Pyramid, which since February 2016 broadcast the discussion of the Zhogorku Kenesh parliament.

MP Zhanar Akayev does not understand why the Pyramid channel, which is a public channel, needs an additional 6 mln soms:

Television channels must operate in a competitive environment and be in private hands. It is not necessary to simply shoot at round tables, it is necessary for television channels to develop. I am not saying you have to implement it now. But in the future, we must carry out reforms and sell all public channels.

Aisulu Mamasheva, a member of the Ata Meken faction, said that Pyramid, in addition to broadcasting live from parliament, does not do anything interesting.

Following the discussions, however, MPs approved the allocation of funds.
