BISHKEK (24.kg) — Officers of the Service for Combating Extremism and Illegal Migration of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Chui region of Kyrgyzstan arrested a recruiter for Hizb ut-Tahrir.

Press service of the regional Department of Internal Affairs reported:

An account has been detected on the social media Facebook that disseminated the ideology of the extremist religious organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir banned in Kyrgyzstan. On 23 February, police investigators arrested a 42-year-old person from the Jalal-Abad region in one of Bishkek’s houses, who was hiding behind this account.

The detainee was placed in a temporary detention centre. An investigation is ongoing.
