National Bank Fines Currency Exchange without License

BISHKEK (24.kg) — The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan fined citizens for 300,000 soms, its website says.

Three residents of Jalal-Abad region were fined for exchange operations with cash foreign currency without a license for 100,000 soms each. Last week, the National Bank fined 15 residents of Osh and Batken regions for 1.5 mln soms.

Last month, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has sold $19.65 mln. The bank conducts interventions for various reasons, in particular for the purpose of smoothing the currency rate fluctuations.
