BISHKEK (24.kg) — Vaccination against the coronavirus in Kyrgyzstan is planned in three stages, the head of the public health department of the Ministry of Health, Ainura Akmatova, announced at an information meeting.
A national plan has been developed for vaccination against COVID-19, she said:
Based on the recommendation of the scientific and technical group on vaccination, the ministry has determined the priority groups of the population. As a first step, it is planned to vaccinate health workers at high and very high risk of infection, as well as individuals belonging to socio-demographic groups with a significantly higher risk of infection, teachers, law enforcement officers and civil servants. As a second step, it is planned to vaccinate people aged 60 and over, as well as those with clinical risk factors, chronic diseases and socially vulnerable population groups, and all other people.
The vaccination will be on a voluntary basis.
Ainura Akmatova added that the Ministry of Health has also drawn up a plan for the deployment of vaccination centres. Mobile vaccination teams will also be involved in vaccination. “Work is underway to create digital applications for electronic queuing, transfer of information on possible post-vaccination reactions, immunity passport”, she said.
According to her, the ministry of health is negotiating with the manufacturers of Sputnik-V vaccine on the preparation of documents for its registration in Kyrgyzstan:
We are continuing to study the issue of establishing a technological process for the production of Russian vaccines in the Kyrgyz Republic in order to further improve access to vaccines. In addition, we are awaiting a decision from the Russian side on possible supplies, conditions and pricing policy for vaccines produced in the Russian Federation.
According to her, there is a proposal for the supply of 504,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from the WHO under the COVAX mechanism.
