Kyrgyzstan to Launch 24h News Channel

BISHKEK (AKIpress) – The Public Service Broadcaster of Kyrgyzstan (OTRK) plans to launch a twenty-four-hour news channel within three months. It will be entitled Ala-Too – 24, said OTRK Director Ilim Karypbekov at the session of the parliamentary committee on education, science, culture and sports.

Karypbekov noted today’s technical equipment and human resources allow to start broadcasting round-the-clock. “The only question to be decided is the rebroadcast from 7.00 AM to 12.00 PM, which requires 200 mln som ($3.3 mln) a year. We need to resolve the issue of funding”, he added.
