Kyrgyzstan to Allow Children to Visit Religious Organizations with Parents

BISHKEK (24.kg) — Minors can visit religious organizations and participate in rituals if accompanied with their parents, as authorized by the amendment made to the Law on Freedom of Religion and Religious Organizations in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Article 4 of the current law categorically bans the involvement of children in religious activities. This prohibition shall continue to apply.
Zakir Chotaev, Deputy Director of the State Commission for Religious Affairs, told journalists:
It is proposed to hold leaders of religious organizations accountable in case of involving children in their activities. The document says that parents have the right to ensure the religious and moral education of their children in accordance with their beliefs.
