BISHKEK (HydroWorld) – Kyrgyzstan utility Electric Power Plants (EPP) seeks bids to replace electrical components including high-voltage cables for the 1,200 MW Toktogul hydroelectric project on Kyrgyzstan’s Naryn River. Bids are due June 22.
- Toktogul Dam is a hydroelectric and irrigation dam on the Naryn River in the Jalal-Abad Province of Kyrgyzstan. It is concrete gravity dam with height of 215 metres and length of 292.5 metres.
The Toktogul Hydroelectric Station has installed capacity of 1,200 MW, which makes it the largest power plant in the country. It has four turbines with capacity of 300 MW each.
EPP issued a similar call in 2013 to replace electrical components, auxiliaries, and instrumentation as part of refurbishment of Toktogul, the largest hydro project in Kyrgyzstan with annual storage capacity. The utility took bids in March for underwater inspection services and last year recruited consultants to assist in Phases 2 and 3 of the Toktogul’s rehabilitation.
EPP currently seeks bids for replacement of electrical components, auxiliaries, and instrumentation at Toktogul, specifically Lot 3 for replacement of 500-kV cables. Work is to include design, manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning.
