Jamshitbek Kalilov and Jassim Saif Ahmed al-Sulaiti sign the air services agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Qatar in Doha on Sunday.

DOHA (Gulf Times) — Qatar and Kyrgyzstan signed an air services agreement in Doha on Sunday, which would allow the national carrier to expand into the Central Asian country. The agreement comes within the framework of connecting Qatar with more air services permitting its national carrier to expand its destinations around the world.

The agreement was signed by the Qatari Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed al-Sulaiti and Kyrgyzstan Minister of Transport and Roads Jamshitbek Kalilov.

Following the signing ceremony, the ministers discussed the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in transport, mobility and aviation and the means of further enhancing them.

They also agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the near future in land transport. The MoU will focus on commodities and goods transportation from Bishkek to Doha on all the days of the week.

This comes within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) that aims to revive the Silk Road, which connects Asia, Africa and Europe to form an economic belt to help expand economic and cultural exchange.
