Kyrgyzstan Considering a State of Emergency over Coronavirus Resurgence
Keywords: COVID-19
BISHKEK (Reuters) - The Kyrgyzstan government will decide on Thursday whether to declare a state of emergency in two major cities and two provinces following the resurgence of another coronavirus outbreak, the country’s Health Ministry said.
Under the earlier state of emergency, that ended in May, Kyrgyzstan locked several cities and districts down, including the capital Bishkek, and forced a curfew.
Officially, Kyrgyzstan has so far counted only 3954 cases of infection, of which 2112 have been recovered and only 43 have died. Given the reaction of the Kyrgyz government, the situation in the field seems to be more severe.
