Kyrgyz Parliament adopts free economic zones regulating bill

Parliament of Kyrgyzstan adopted in third reading a bill, regulating activity of free economic zones.

According to SDPK faction member Alla Izmalkova, the Government judges from the fact that free economic zones not just must exist but also can count on government’s support. “The activity of the FEZ has repeatedly caused conflicts that occurred due to imperfection of some statutes of Free Economic Zones in the KR Law. Taxation mechanisms also require improvement and specification,” she added.

As Speaker of the Parliament Akhmatbek Keldibekov noted, none of the FEZs but for “Bishkek” FEZ comply with the law demands, related to territory enclosure. “This fact makes it impossible to stop contraband from the territory of free economic zones into the customs territory of the Kyrgyz Republic, which give rise to unfair competition to other enterprises of the republic, who pay all the taxes and thus have to subsidize companies-the subjects of FEZ. It is necessary to oblige FEZ to fence the rest their territories,” he added.
