BISHKEK (Parliament press service) — The International Affairs, Defence and Security Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic at its meeting considered in first reading the draft law On ratification of the Social Security Treaty between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Turkey, signed on April 9, 2018 in Ankara.
According to the press service of the parliament, Meder Irsaliev, chairman of the social fund of the Kyrgyz Republic, addressed the deputies. He said that 11,500 citizens of Kyrgyzstan officially work in Turkey, and 5,400 citizens of Turkey officially work in the Kyrgyz Republic. In Kyrgyzstan, the average pension is $81, in Turkey $350. The ratification of the treaty will solve the issues of social security of citizens of two countries.
Responding to questions from deputies Kanybek Imanaliev, Abdyvahap Nurbayev, Anvar Artykov, Irina Karamushkina, the speaker noted that this is the first such agreement. It is expected that the same agreements will be concluded with other European countries, as well as with the countries of the EEU.
Deputies noted the relevance of the bill. They believe, because this is the first such agreement, it must become a model one. Similar agreements will be concluded with other countries where Kyrgyz citizens work. In this regard, the deputies proposed to hold parliamentary hearings on the bill.
“Due to the fact that the speaker’s answers did not satisfy the deputies, the government staff decided to withdraw the draft law, hold parliamentary hearings and then submit it again for consideration by the Jogorku Kenesh”, the statement reads.
