BISHKEK (24.kg) – Several doctors arrested in Kyrgyzstan, suspected of the sale of children and terminating pregnancy in the 8^th month.

The announce was made at a press conference by the Prosecutor of the Department for Combating Corruption and Supervision over Implementation of Law in Social Sphere and Protection of the Rights of Children of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Nurzhan Talantbek uulu. According to him, the police and the prosecutor’s office opened four criminal cases on the sale of children.

“Five people were charged, three of whom are held in pre-trial detention centre, two are under house arrest. Two criminal cases were opened by the prosecutor’s office and two — by the police on trafficking in newborns facts. Obstetrician-gynaecologist of a private medical centre performed an abortion at the 32^nd week of pregnancy, but according to the law it can be done only until 22 weeks”, Nurzhan Talantbek uulu said.

Police detained doctors suspected of sale of children in Bishkek. At least two out of five detainees signed written undertaking not to leave the city, three were placed in detention centre N° 1. It is known that foreign citizens are also involved in the case.
