Kyrgyzstan is interested to join the CU as soon as possible, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev said following the results of negotiations within CIS Council of Heads of Government and EurAsEC Interstate Council.
According to him, the meetings had friendly atmosphere. “With Head of Kazakh government Karim Masimov, we discussed several issues of bilateral cooperation and agreed that he would visit Kyrgyzstan in late June to continue the negotiations,” said Almazbek Atambayev.
“I asked the Head of Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to support us in the issue, related to country’s joining the Customs Union. In Kyrgyzstan, people think that we are invited to CU and that we do not need it. In fact, we cannot let people wake up in the morning and find out that POL prices has skyrocketed. Then, every body will say about the necessity to join the CU. This issue must be solved in advance. Besides, we talked about the credit of EurAsEC Anti-crisis Fund in amount of $106 million. We received the support of Russia and Kazakhstan. Today, Minister of Finance of the RF said about it,” added Almazbek Atambayev.
“The credit was built into the budget of the republic in 2010. In addition, we talked about additional Russian soft loan. I will not hide that I asked to allocate it as a grant. We agreed to meet with the Minister of Finance of the RF in early June at economic forum in St. Petersburg. Later, in Moscow, I shall discuss the issue with Vladimir Putin,” explained Almazbek Atambayev.
“I also met with Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and we discussed the supply of mineral fertilizers. In general, the trip was successful for the country,” said Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan.
